The Dux were glad to back home in front of the Swamp after a tough week on the road.  West came away with a 61-44 win over Mona Shares (4-3) to push their record to 1-1 in conference and 4-3 overall.  The two teams played back and forth early on with West holding a 16-12 lead after the 1st.  During the second quarter the Dux tightened up their defense and held Shores to 4 points while getting out and running for 17 second quarter points to hold a 33-16 lead at halftime.  Luke Bakker and Merritt Alderink paced the Dux with 10 points each in the first half while Myles Steffen, Drew Weenum, and Deklan Klamt all knocked down a 3.  Bergen Loeprich provided a spark in the third quarter by adding 4 points as West extended the lead to 49-29.  The Sailors cut into the lead and got it as close as 15, but two thunderous dunks by Merritt Alderink helped West win by a final of 61-44.  Zeeland West will host the #7 rated team, Reeths Puffer (5-1), on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
