The Dux went on the road for their first contest away from home on Thursday night at Mona Shores.  It was a close game early on with the Dux struggling to score, but a late spirt in the first quarter set up by great ball movement and rebounding  from Kylan Arnold, Bergen Loeprich, Terick DeJonge, and Trevor Wallar was capped off by a 3 from Joe Steele which helped the Dux take a 12-10 lead at the quarter break and bring life to the rest of the team.  The defense picked up in the second quarter only allowing 8 points and scoring 15 points for a 27-18 halftime lead. Freshman Merritt Alderink got going in the second half scoring 15 of his game high 19 points along with 2 big dunks.  Carson Gulker contributed ten points in the second and distributed the ball to open teammates as the Dux outscored Mona Shores 32-20 in the second half for a final score of 59-38.  Zeeland West plays at Grandville on Friday night at 7 p.m.  Check out the Zeeland West athletics website in order to purchase the NFHS network to stream the game live.
