Zeeland West High School

Varsity vs Lee High School. The Duz varsity squad recovered from a tough outing on Monday and welcomed in Wyoming Lee High School on Thursday night at home. The Dux came out on fire and really pressed both offensively and defensively as they hosted a shutout in a decisive 4-0 victory. The 1st Dux goal of the game came from Junior Garrett Kapenga as he took a great ball from Dakoda Glennie off of the left side, outran his defender and put his shot home past a sprawling Lee keeper. The Dux continued to press and added a 2nd goal from Senior Kiah Hoffer as he took a rebound and headed it home. The score remained 2-0 at half. The Dux relentless pursuit didn't end there as a 3rd goal came from Sophomore Gabe Lichtenwalner as he took a pass from Senior Owen Frego at the top of the box, and after a couple of touches he calmly placed an 18-yard shot into the right corner past a surprised Lee keeper. The final goal came from Junior Wyatt Keeler off of a beautiful corner cross from Senipr Owen Frego and headed past the Lee keeper to cap the scoring for the Dux. The entire team got playing time tonight and the gas pedal stayed floored. It was an awesome atmosphere as the starters really got into the game as the guys coming off of the bench continued their great play and strung together several other scoring opportunities that unfortunately didn't find the back of the net. The Dux are back in action on Monday as they Host Zeeland East in their final regular season game. The senior players will be honored prior to the start of the varsity game, so we hope to see all of you out there to cheer them on!
