Junior Varsity vs Holland Christian High School (2 - 4) Loss The Dux JV soccer team dropped a conference match at Holland Christian on a hot and muggy Wednesday afternoon. The Dux struggled to match Holland Christian's speed, skill and agressiveness in the first half, going down 0-3. However, the Dux came out in the second half with more intensity, intentionality and poise to make it a game, scoring in the first and last minute of half. Freshman Ian Pope scored the first goal for the Dux after picking the pocket of the center back before driving the ball past the goal keeper. Less than 10 minutes later, Pope again found himself in behind the Maroon defense and his slotted ball back across the goal mouth to Camdyn Klaasen almost led to the second goal. The Dux scored the second goal in the waning seconds of the match. Henry O'Dell's free kick from half field with less than 10 seconds remaining caught the Maroon back line by surprise. A misclear led to a chance in the box which sophomore Caleb Spahr beat the keeper to the ball and calmly passed it into the back of the net.
