Water Polo Falls to Grandville/Jenison

Wednesday, September 24th, the Zeeland Water Polo Team was defeated at their home match against the Jenison/Grandville Wild Dogs.

 

The Wild Dogs came in with the win using their tight defense. Although coach Zach Geschwendt also said the Zeeland team fought with their own strong defense, “best defensive game we have played all season… making things difficult for them.”

 

At the end of the 2nd quarter Issac DeVisser, Zeeland’s goalie, came through with a buzzer beater from the far side of the pool. He said, “The whole time I was just thinking about Taylor Swift, Love Story.” He continued to explain it puts him into a great and positive mood which also helped him defend 3 shots in the span of 5 seconds.

Water Polo Falls in Close One to Rockford

The Zeeland Water Polo team lost by 3 points to Rockford on Wednesday night, September 10, at the Zeeland Natatorium.

 

The combined Zeeland East and West team was led by Andwer Pyle that night, scoring 50% of the 10 goals scored. 

Pyle said, “I feel good, I’m sad about some of the goals I didn’t make, but overall we all played well.”

 

The team had strong defense with a few steals, but was slightly overpowered by Rockford after back and forth scores from both teams. 

Head coach Zac Geschwendt mentioned that they carried a slow pace but was most surprised at the scoring of, “goals that we don’t usually score,” for example Coach explained, “Dylan had a nice lob on a 6 on 5.”
