Dux Softball had an adventure getting to South Haven for their double header on Tuesday night. They had bus trouble which the girls did a great job getting prepared to play in a shorter amount of time. Twice the Dux came from behind to tie the game, but fell 4-5 against a good South Haven team.

Emily Brands took the loss on the mound for the Dux. She went seven innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on five hits, walking 6, and striking out 4. She battled most of the game with hitting her spots, but never gave up in the circle.

Dux out hit the Rams in the game, but took a few too many innings to get going. Carly Sleeman led the offense going 3 for 3 and driving in 2 runs. Sleeman recorded her first home run of her HS career as a sophomore since no season in 2020. Alexa Brott went 2 for 3, and senior Addison Verplank went 2 for 4 and collected her first career home run as well. Other Dux contributing hits were Lily Brower and Brands.

Dux defense was good, but committed two errors in the game. Catcher Elexia Fuentes threw out two runners attempting to steal second base in the game.

For this early in the season, the Dux are coming together nicely. We have a group of girls that are committed to each other and to get better everyday!
